Hot Weather and Pregnancy

Dehydration is caused by not drinking enough fluid or when the body loses more fluid than it takes on. This should be high on the agenda during this hot period - so drinking plenty of fluids is a must. Carry a water bottle with you, remember regular and often is the way to go. If you are feeling thirsty, dizzy, tired, have a dry mouth or your urine is dark than please increase your fluid intake.
Heat exhaustion is often caused during hot weather or during vigorous activities. Symptoms are often fatigue, nausea and muscle cramps. To prevent this, drink plenty of fluids and even take on an extra drink with added electrolytes. Wear loose clothing, make sure you stay in the shade when outdoors and lastly a cool wet towel to pop over you neck could really make you comfortable during this hot (glorious) period.
Heat cramps are also common during hot weather. These can occur in the legs, arms or stomach area. Again, staying well hydrated will relieve these symptoms.

Being aware of the risk straight away reduces the chance of these conditions happening to you.

Enjoy the sun and look after yourself!
