Non-Invasive Prenatal Test (NIPT) + Scan - £400

NIPT Tests (commonly referred to as the Down’s Syndrome Test or Harmony Test) - available from 10 weeks of pregnancy - offer Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing in the form of a blood test. When you are pregnant, your blood contains traces of your baby’s DNA. The NIPT collects and analyses cell-free fetal DNA from the maternal blood, enabling a more accurate screening for Down’s Syndrome (Trisomy 21), Edward’s Syndrome (Trisomy 18) and Patau’s Syndrome (Trisomy 13). The package also includes an Early Pregnancy Ultrasound Scan checking viability (baby’s heart beat), gestation and early anatomy development of your baby. The main purpose of the scan is to assess the competency of the cervix throughout the pregnancy – performed from 16 – 40 weeks. It is often recommended to reassure women with a history of cervical surgery, preterm deliveries, late miscarriages or multiple pregnancies. It is a transvaginal (internal) scan in order to achieve optimal results and can be used in the monitoring process for premature labour prevention. Blood Screening – Group B Strep. - £90
Group B Streptococcus (GBS) is a common bacterium naturally present in 20–40% of adults, typically without causing any symptoms or health issues. It is most often found in the digestive system and, in up to 25% of women, in the vagina. Carrying GBS is usually harmless and does not cause symptoms on its own.
However, GBS can be passed from mother to baby during labour or shortly after birth, potentially leading to serious infections such as sepsis or meningitis. In rare cases, it may also cause complications during pregnancy. GBS is not a sexually transmitted infection, and treatment does not prevent future re-colonization of the bacteria.
GBS screening is not routinely offered by the NHS. However, when testing is conducted, it follows the method outlined in the UK Standards for Microbiological Investigations, using an enriched culture medium (ECM). This ECM test is considered the international gold standard for detecting Group B Strep carriage.
To accurately identify GBS presence near the time of birth, two swabs—one from the lower vagina and one from the rectum—should be taken and cultured, ideally within the final five weeks of pregnancy.

The consultation gives you the opportunity to discuss your pregnancy wellbeing and any concerns you may have. You may be experiencing some early pregnancy symptoms and body changes that are not known to you, such as morning sickness and fatigue; at Daisyscan we can discuss how to help manage these and the different options that are available to you.
During this appointment, we will discuss pregnancy symptoms, diet and nutrition, exercise, prenatal screening in pregnancy and anything else you have questions about. We will also discuss the appointments you should expect and when to schedule them. A range of blood tests can be performed should they be required (at an additional cost). If we feel you may benefit from an additional obstetric ultrasound scan during your appointment we can organise this at a time that suits you (additional fees will apply). You are welcome to bring your partner or friend alongside for support to all of your Daisyscan appointments.
